While the capital of Rajasthan – Jaipur is aiming to become the next startup hub of India, Kota still has got only a few good startups.
This has been majorly due to the lack of an ecosystem that is essential for fostering entrepreneurship in any city.
Although there have been quite a few attempts to kickstart the startup ecosystem in Kota, they were unsuccessful in bringing any desired change.
The Kota Startup Fest which was held in Kota in 2016 was a grand event that for the first time brought various stakeholders on one single platform. There were also various other smaller initiatives by organizations like iStart, TieRajasthan, Startup Oasis, Career Point University, but their influence has been very limited and short-lived.

In spite of all that, there are few startups from the city which are making us proud.
Let’s get to know them –
Founded by Nikhil Baheti, Shreyans Mehta and Saida Dhanavat, MedCords works on the digitalization of medical records and their smooth access and sharing across various stakeholders.
MedCords is backed by leading investors like InfoEdge Group, WaterBridge Ventures and multiple industry experts.
Edu Uncle is a startup in the Ed-tech space which provides a learning platform for students preparing for competitive exams like IIT JAM, UGC NET, CSIR NET & more.
Eeki Foods, founded by two IIT-Bombay graduates, Amit Kumar & Abhay Singh, grows high-quality Indian staple vegetables & fruits using hydroponics
It would be great to see more young people from Kota taking up entrepreneurship & building new businesses in the near future.
But for this to happen, efforts at all levels – Central & State Government, Local Institutions, Investors, etc have to be directed in this direction for change to take place.
